His main areas of interest are: therapeutic endoscopy, endoscopic resection techniques, as well as teaching and training in gastroenterology and endoscopy.
He currently works in the Department of Gastroenterology, Santo António Hospital, Porto, Portugal where he is dedicated to early GI cancers and advanced endoscopic therapy. He has been trained in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and his commitment to teaching and training is supported by a PhD thesis on training in advanced endoscopic resection techniques. Additionally, he has been an endoscopy tutor in several hands-on workshops in porcine models, on basic and advanced endoscopy techniques (EMR and ESD).

Member of the Education and Research Committees of the Portuguese Society of Digestive Endoscopy.

Numerous participations in scientific meetings as presenter, speaker and moderator.
Author and co-author of several scientific articles.
