RASTISLAV KUNDA

Prof. Rastislav Kunda, MD, FASGE, FJGES, is a HPB and GI surgeon, with a main focus in digestive and HPB endoscopy. He is focused on invention and innovation, particularly in biliopancreatic endoscopy, including the development of new devices and procedures in interventional endoscopy. He pioneered the implementation of interventional EUS and the development of entirely novel procedures in interventional EUS and HPB endoscopy and focusing on their firm incorporation into therapeutic algorithms of HPB disorders. He was head and elevated both surgical and endoscopic programs at Aarhus Univeristy Hospital, Aarhus, Denmark and University Hospital of Brussels, Brussels, Belgium, to position them as global leaders, with an early and firm implementation of these recent developments into clinical practice as well as in providing advanced training in these novel techniques worldwide. The main focus is on a multidisciplinary approach to hepatopancreatobiliary diseases, including minimally invasive interventions through means of flexible endoscopy, laparoscopy and robotic surgery. Prof. Kunda is currently affiliated with the National University of Singapore and the National University Hospital as the Philip Yeo Professor in Medicine by NUS and the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Prof. Kunda holds numerous visiting professorships on all continents, he has been honoured by 26 international awards of distinction. And is a member of 25 professional organisations and societies.
