Dr. Roos Pouw is a Gastroenterologist with a special interest in endoscopic detection and treatment of esophageal neoplasia and precursor lesions. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Pouw is principal investigator and supervises a number of research lines on endoscopic management of early Barrett's neoplasia, and for this work, she received the UEG Rising Star award 2020. She also supervises a research line on endoscopic vacuum therapy for treatment of defects in the upper gastrointestinal tract. Dr. Pouw was elected Secretary General for United European Gastroenterology (UEG) for the term 2026-2029, she was co-chair of the Young International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (ISDE), secretary of the Dutch Upper Cancer Group, and she is task force leader for a number of guideline initiatives and curricula on esophageal neoplasia for the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) and ISDE, and editorial (advisory) board member for the UEG Journal and Best Practice & Research: Clinical Gastroenterology.
